Course description
PRESERVING THE ACTIVE HIP
This two-day in-person course is an extremely powerful “hands-on” course that will explain EVERYTHING about the hip joint – the nuances in the anatomy & biomechanics that have critical functional implications, why it has more muscles around it than anywhere else in the body and how simple gait characteristics can reveal much about muscle balance around the joint. Additionally, a complete discussion will be provided of; what the labrum does, how it can be injured, how it presents clinically, when should surgical intervention be considered and how do the long-term outcomes compare between arthroscopic surgery and conservative management.
“THIS IS A VERY POWERFUL COURSE THAT NOT ONLY COMPLIMENTS EVERYTHING YOU ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE HIP BUT EXPLAINS SO MUCH MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW”
Course participants will learn a comprehensive yet time-efficient physical exam using newly developed assessment methods that don’t require the use of any special equipment. The examination process will showcase how to easily recognize key gait analysis compensations that create or are the result of muscle imbalance and how to objective test for muscle imbalance. Differential tests for joint pathology such as labral tears as well palpation techniques to accurately identify critical structures around the hip will also be shown.
In addition to the time-efficient physical examination, participants will also be shown “patient-friendly” highly effective gait re-education strategies as well as a PROGRESSIVE exercise-based management program which have undergone scientific scrutiny and clinical success. Complimentary myofascial techniques specific to the hip will also be taught. You will truly enjoy treating patients with hip pain after this course!
