Course Description
This active, team-based course is designed to challenge the participant’s ability to synthesize a case presentation and develop an appropriate examination and treatment plan. The course includes 9-12 complex cases and is interspersed with formal learning opportunities (didactic and lab-based). Evidence-based examination and interventional aspects are discussed, with guideline-oriented elements included when available.
Course Objectives
Recognize and apply appropriate diagnostic accuracy measures for use in spot diagnosis (screening), differentiation, and confirmation. Perform the best tests and measures used during diagnosis and prognosis. Integrate appropriate exercise based interventions based on best evidence with a goal of maximizing outcomes. Integrate appropriate manual therapy based interventions based on best evidence with a goal of maximizing outcomes. Recognize current gaps in the literature and discuss options for care to fill the gaps
Teaching Methodology
The primary instructional method involves team-based learning. Teams will group together and determine the best examination and interventional options. Multidisciplinary care options are always considered for each case. Brief ‘rapid fire’ lectures are used to enhance learning opportunities, depending the results from the cases.
Course Schedule
Note: Lecture and Lab will be interspersed throughout the 2 days. Dress for an upper and lower quarter lab course.

Allied health professionals working in the management of musculo-skeletal impairments. The course is specifically targeted to clinicians who have successfully treated many of their patients but are still struggling to help that sub-population of challenging cases. Experienced clinicians wishing to re-invigorate their practices with fresh concepts in patient management will find this program stimulating and add significantly to the team learning experience.
